Copilot cannot access or reveal data beyond a user’s existing permissions. An Accountant cannot ask Copilot for profit margins or payroll data if they do not already have access to it.

How is sensitive financial data encrypted (both at rest and in transit)?

Sensitive financial data is encrypted both at rest and in transit using industry-standard methods. At rest, data is protected with Transparent Data Encryption (TDE) and BitLocker, while in transit it is secured with TLS (Transport Layer Security). Encryption is always enabled and cannot be turned off.
